St Mary's Prays
As an Australian Mary MacKillop traversed the many paths of the Wallaby Track and was only too aware of what life was like for the people of the colony. The early settlers lived lives of great hardship. They confronted 'flood and fire and famine' and Mary supported them in their endeavours to overcome their hardships. Let us turn to her in our support for those suffering the effects of drought and take courage from the inspiration of her life:
You must often have moments, nay hours, of deep anxiety, and made so much worse by the feeling that you are almost alone, but God will comfort you. 14 August 1866
Never lose courage under your sufferings. 1873
Let us humbly wait and pray. 1875
God is never nearer to us than when danger threatens. 1880
You have many and very severe trials, but have courage. 1890
