Congratulations to the fifteen students from Year 2 to 6 who travelled to Griffith on Monday for a one day chess tournament.

  

The squad was divided into teams of three and competed against other schools in the region.  The tournament was the first competitive experience in chess for these students and they quickly adapted to the rules and game play of tournament competition.

  

Each team performed beyond expectation with St Mary's D consisting of Andrew Cumming, Ned Brown and Ted Curry earning 12 points to finish a well deserved 4th place for the day.

  

The remaining teams all finished within 3 points of our top side and were grouped in the middle of the field.  These teams consisted of Harry Tulloch, Alexander Murdoch, Logan Pettit, Cruze Loudon, Woody Ambrose, Daniel Tachie-Menson, Chelsea Nielsen, Cate Curry, Charlotte Foster, Harry Morton, Charlie Murdoch and Hugo Harper.

  

Our students were extremely well behaved and represented the school with pride.
