A Message from our Principal
Dear Parents,
I would like to begin by congratulating the students of Year 5 and 6 for completing the Sacrament of Confirmation on Sunday. We were blessed with a sunny spring day and all the students involved must be commended for the way they conducted themselves in the Mass. A huge thank you to Fr Dominic, Mrs Jacqui Cuthbertson, Miss Bree Madden and Mrs Tess Turner for preparing the students for the sacrament and organising such a beautiful ceremony.
As we approach the end of term 3 we look forward to the 2 weeks ahead and see an action packed schedule. This Friday sees the Archdiocese Public Speaking Competition move into the Western Region finals. We have 3 students, Scarlette Orr, Hannah McDonell and Cate Curry competing and we wish them all the best with their speeches.
Next week begins with a bang, as we dress up as our favourite book character and invite all our parents in for our book week celebrations on Monday. Festivities will begin at 9.30am with class parades. On Tuesday our students from years 3 to 6 will head to Temora to see St Anne’s Showcase extravaganza. On Wednesday our 3/4’s head to Junee to compete in the long awaited Trent Barrett Shield Rugby League and League Tag competition.
Wednesday 21st September will be our students last day of term with the announcement of Thursday 22nd of September to be a national day of mourning for Queen Elizabeth ll. The public holiday will be followed by our scheduled pupil free day on Friday.
As you are aware St Mary’s Run4Fun Colour Explosion was planned for the 22nd of September. This event will now occur on Thursday 20th of October, which will week 2 next term. The fundraising final date was originally this Friday and due to the change of schedule the cutoff date will now be Friday 14 October. Our community has made an amazing effort so far with the funds raised and the small extension of time might just get us to the $15 000 target we have set.
Regards,
Phil Nielsen
