Trent Barrett Shield

On Thursday our Year 3 and 4 classes attended the Trent Barrett Shield League and League Tag competition in Temora.

We entered a Year 4 tackle team, a Year 3 tackle team and a combined Year 3&4 Girls tag team.  All our teams won at least one game and went on to compete in the finals.  Our students displayed wonderful sportsmanship and played together very well.  Thank you to all our coaches for teaching the students the rules and the skills of league and league tag.
Amelia Alchin, Grace Kellahan and Bobby Bryant played so well that they were awarded the NRL coaches and players awards for the day.
We have two fabulous write-ups of the day by Asha McDonell in Year 3 and Indi Loudon in Year 4.

As I arrived at the footy ground I jumped out of the car.  I was out of the car for about one minute and was already sweating.

We went and gathered the team, then Ashley showed up with silver pompoms.  I took one of them and said we could be cheerleaders.

As we were warming up for the first game I could tell everyone was getting a little nervous including myself.  It got hotter and hotter as the day went on.

It was time for our first game.  Amelia got the first try then Young started firing.  It was a tough game but they managed to win.  We all sat down under a tree waiting for our next game.  We all held Willow, Amelia's baby sister, then... she cracked it.

It's time for our next game!  This was a pretty easy game.  Our total score was 7 tries.  But then it was so hot.  Most of us bought ice blocks, also known as fruity bombs.

It was time for our last game. This would determine what we came overall.  It was against the 2nd Temora team.  It was a close game but we pulled it off just enough to win!

We placed 3rd overall and 1st in our pool.  I personally think we played great all day long and everyone had a great day.

Dad parked the car and I jumped out of it without hesitating.  I ran over to my friends and we warmed up before our first game.  I was bubbling with excitement.  As I ran onto the field I had butterflys in my tummy.

After 20 minutes I was dripping with sweat as the ref blew the whistle.  Full time.  Oh No!  We lost.  They were tough.  I grabbed a drink of water and ran over to my mum.  I grabbed some food and ate it up until it was time for the next game.

This time I was dummy half so I had to keep an eye on the ball.  It was in the second half when I got the ball and I ran but then I got tagged.  I put the ball down and played it.  When the ref blew the whistle and said full time I shook hands with everybody and ran off.

I ran to mum to get some money for lunch break.  We got an hour and a half break so we just played games and stuff.

When it was our last game I played much better than the other two games.  I got a few tags but didn't make any tries.  We won.  I shook hands with everyone and then poured water all over me.  It was so hot.

The last and final thing was presentations.  The first name was Amelia Alchin. I clapped for her with happiness.  Then it was time to head home.  I was sad it was over.
