Due to current COVID-19 restrictions we are unable to hold face-to-face parent teacher interviews.
We will be holding Zoom meetings with parents. The meetings will be restricted to 10 minutes to allow for the digital process and connection with the next participant.
Parent Teacher interviews will be held for Kinder and Years 3 to 6 on Tuesday 28th of July and Wednesday 29th of July from 3.30pm. Year 1 / 2 Joy class interviews will be held on Tuesday the 28th and Thursday the 30th of July.
All parents should have received a text on Friday morning at 10am with the booking link, it is also included below. We encourage you to book interviews with your child’s teacher so you are aware of your child’s progress.
Please familiarise yourself with the booking and Zoom processes below and contact the school if you have any questions.
BOOKING AN INTERVIEW
Bookings for the interviews opened today at 10am. The booking system, Session Keeper, will remain the same as last year.
In order to book an interview parents must be subscribed to Schoolzine. Most parents would be subscribed already if they use the SZApp or if a previous Session Keeper booking has been made. If needed the school office can advise the email address you have used previously.
Once you click on the booking link, included below, you will need to logon to SessionKeeper which involves your SZApp email address and password. You will then be taken to the booking system.
The booking system involves:
- Creating a booking by choosing your child's teacher/s, you can include more than teacher at at time, choosing a time, including a note if necessary and then saving the booking/s.
- If you would like to talk to the teacher who has your child for one day per week, then please include this request in the booking notes,
- If parents feel they cannot Zoom due to internet or other issues then the interview can be held via telephone conference, please include a request in the booking notes for the telephone option,
- Review your booking/s and save.
If you are having problems please contact the office and we will try to help you through it.
ZOOM MEETING PROCESS
The Zoom meeting process will be:
- It is important you load Zoom on your device before Tuesday. Zoom can be downloaded onto your computer, tablet or phone, whichever you are most comfortable with. Type 'download Zoom’ into your browser and follow the instructions.
- Your child's teacher will create a Zoom session. If you have more than one child you will receive a session invite for each child.
- On Monday afternoon an invite will be sent to you via the email you have nominated to the school. If you don't receive this email by Tuesday morning you need to contact the school office. This email will give you two options to join the Zoom meeting:
- A meeting ID number which can be copied and pasted into the Zoom application.
- A link to the Zoom website which will take you through a series of steps to load the Zoom application (if not already loaded) and then connect you to the meeting.
- On the day and time of your interview join the meeting in Zoom. Initially you will be placed in a waiting room and the teacher will connect with you when the previous meeting has finished.
- If you have technical trouble connecting to the session at your meeting time please call the school on 6972 3003 as we will have staff ready to help.
Canteen Will Be Closing Friday 31 July
Due to the resignation of our Canteen Manager last term the P&F made a decision to continue to employ a paid Canteen Manager for Term 3 and 4 this year.
The position was advertised at the end of last term and is included below.
Unfortunately there has been no interest in the position and a regrettable decision has been made to close the canteen from Monday 3rd August until further notice.
If you have any questions regarding the position please contact our P&F President Lisa Sturgess on 0428 385 836 or send your expression of interest to Mr Nielsen.
The canteen is an integral part of the school and is utilised by every family. We are keen to recruit an enthusiast parent or other commmunity member to work for 3 hours per week organising our canteen ordering, volunteer instructions, roster, equipment maintenance and cleaning.
Details of the role are in the document below.
Written expressions of interest can be emailed to phillip.nielsen@cg.catholic.edu.au before Friday 31st of July.
Please remember it is a requirement of the Catholic Education Office and Education Department that student absences from school form part of a child's official school record.
Parents are asked to send an absence note via the SZApp within five days of an absence so it can be recorded. The absence followups are done weekly on a Monday so it is helpful if absence notes for each week are sent to the office by Friday of that week.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Issue 5 of Scholastic Book Club will close on Friday 31st of July.
It is best to use the LOOP order system but if you need to pay by cash or cheque then the forms need to be sent to the office.
School Banking Returns on Monday
Get involved in the School Banking program - We start again on Monday 27th of July
School Banking is a fun, interactive and engaging way to help young Australians practice good savings habits. Children who deposit money into their Youthsaver account through School Banking earn Dollarmites tokens, which they can save up and redeem for exciting rewards.
Getting involved in School Banking is easy!
All you need to get involved in the School Banking program is a Commonwealth Bank Youthsaver account. You can open an account for your child in one of two ways:
1. Online - Visit commbank.com.au/schoolbanking and click on the link to open a Youthsaver account/
2. In branch - Visit a Commonwealth Bank branch with identification for yourself and your child, like a driver’s licence and birth certificate.
If your child has an existing Commonwealth Bank Youthsaver account they can start banking straight away. They just need to bring their deposit wallet in every Monday and take it to the school office.
ME WANT COOKIE!
Look out in the next week for details of our cookie dough fundraiser. Everyone loves freshly-baked cookies and you will have a chance to order a few tubs.
