Dear Parents and Carers
I would like to thank you all for adhering to the COVID-19 restrictions in regards to testing your children and supplying results to the school. We appreciate your support of the measures we have to enforce.
The 1st of September is spring and while our students look magnificent in their ties, I think all will appreciate a break from the morning tie routine. Today is our last day of ties for 2020. Children can wear summer or winter uniform from next Monday until the end of term depending on what they feel comfortable in due to the weather.
There are a few building works photos later in the newsletter. Progress has been amazing. The students are going to like the new windows as they are larger and allow more light into the classrooms. We are expecting to begin moving into the new rooms, both upstairs and downstairs, on Monday the 21st of September. The next stage of the upgrade is the new offices, sick bay and teachers staff room which will be in the current Kinder and 1/2 rooms and this is expected to begin in the holidays.
Regards
Phil Nielsen
Principal
Our Father who lays above us in heaven,
Watching his world be filled with peace and kindness,
Please cleanse us from the evil sprit
God will never get angry at us not matter what we do wrong.
Help us through our times of struggles,
Give us what we need to survive our journey of life,
and admit us in to heaven, as we have all done good,
AMEN

Maths Professional Development
Over the last two day’s all our staff at St Mary’s have been working with Leonie Anstey from Elevated Learning who is our maths consultant employed by Catholic Education in our Canberra /Goulburn Archdiocese.
Leonie presented a whole day Maths workshop online on Thursday and Friday and we were fortunate to be able to use our students for demonstration classes on both days. Some of the students were a bit awestruck with being on camera but they worked through really well.
Today all the 5/6 students worked with Mrs Haworth and Mrs Cuthbertson to put into play what these teachers learnt yesterday. They delivered inquiry based, differentiated Maths on Chance and Data using manipulatives, great games , higher order thinking and integrating other stands of maths.
The teachers are very grateful for the opportunity to continue to work Leonie to build teacher capacity in teaching Maths and improve student outcomes.
