Living the Gospel – Proclaim Good News
Francis of Assisi is credited with saying, ‘Preach the gospel at all times and when necessary, use words!’
In every interaction we have we say so much about who we are, what we think of the other person and what we believe – even without opening our mouth.
Our actions and attitudes proclaim our beliefs more powerfully than our words ever do. If we claim to be concerned about justice and yet behave unjustly then it is our actions, not our words, that will be heard!
When we are called to ‘proclaim the Good News’ we are called to do this first and foremost in action.

For the next five weeks in MJR we are looking at our new Mission Statement.
Last week we focused on Compassionate.
Compassionate - Loving one another as Jesus showed us.
In our MJR groups the students engaged in songs, discussions and drama activities to experience what compassionate looks like, feels like and sounds like at St Mary's.

The following students have been chosen to read at our Mary Help of Christians Mass on Wednesday the 26th of May at 12pm:

If your child is not available on this day please contact Mrs Daniher or the school office so a replacement can be arranged.
The bus will leave the front of the school at 9am sharp and return to St Mary's between 4.30pm and 5pm. Parents will be advised of the arrival time via SeeSaw.
Students should wear school uniform and bring a packed recess, fruit, lunch, water bottle and a hat.
This excursion will cost $15 per child, permission and payment via QKR!
The cost of transport is covered by St Mary's School.

Students in Year 2 to Year 6 need to indicate how they will be getting to and from McAlister Oval. Staff will be present at the public school bus stop for children alighting there. Students in Kinder and Year 1 will leave the school at 11.30 and walk to the oval. Once finished they will return to school before the school bell. These students may also leave the oval with their parents once they advise their teacher. |

Our award winners last week.
The Midnight Gang
Our Year 3 and Year 4 students travelled to Griffith with Mrs Nielsen and Mrs Tulloch on Friday the 14th of May.
The students had a wonderful day out, there was singing on the bus, fun in the park and a great theatre performance enjoyed by all.
Max Cuthbertson in Year 4 has contributed an amazing story about the excursion:
The Exciting Excursion

Lights! Camera! Action!
Before I knew it, I was in the theatre. The loud chatter suddenly stopped and the stage lights came on. I am so ready!!!
The break to the park before the show was amazing! Flying foxes, spider webs, slides…. Oh I could go on forever! It was impossible to do everything at City Park. I feel amazed, shocked and surprised that the teachers gave us the opportunity to go there.
The Midnight Gang performance was amazing! The performers change characters in 30 seconds, unbelievable! All the children in the play had their dreams come true. I shook with excitement not knowing what’s coming next.
Quick! Hop on the bus!
The singing on the bus on the way home is louder than a packed stadium. My eardrums were about to POP! I saw the school in the distance and we approached England Street. A great day comes to an end.
