- End of Year Blessing for Students
Dear Parents,
2021 has been another dynamic year at St Mary’s, maneuvering through the different forms of restrictions that have come our way. Unbelievably, the year began with little to no restrictions in place. Parents were free to come onto school grounds, attend school assemblies and not have to wear a mask. Our students could mix in any way they liked and we didn’t have to worry about the dreaded cohort mixing.
We are ending the year with the highest level of restrictions possible while students are still able to attend school. The conditions that we will be under for the start of 2022 are unknown at this point in time and an email will be sent to parents in the week leading to the return to school. It would be naïve to think we will return under no restrictions, however we all hope that some conditions may be lifted to begin the year.
I wish to thank parents who contacted me and discussed their child's need. Please note that any further requests for changes will be very difficult to grant. I invite you to tell your children their teacher's name and class members.
I would like to thank the staff at St Mary’s for meeting the challenges that we faced this year head on and for staying focused on the reason we are here, for the students of our school. To our wonderful teachers, the hard working office staff, the dependable exec staff and our ever reliable cleaner and groundsman. Thank you to all the tremendous people that make St Mary’s what it is. We wish Mrs Chloe Beach, Mrs Rebecca McPake and Mrs Sue Buttenshaw all the best for 2022 and beyond.
I hope you all enjoy a well deserved break over the festive season and we all look forward to a new year in 2022.
Regards
Phil Nielsen
This year's Speech Day was another different event to normal years. We we were unable to invite our generous sponsors and special guests, and were limited in the total number of guests we could invite.
We hosted a special morning for our Year 6 students and parents and presented our major awards with the winners parents in attendance.
We would like to thank our sponsors, who supported our school even though they could not attend to present their generous awards on the day:
St Mary's Parish, Goldenfields Water, West Wyalong Lions Club, West Wyalong Rotary Club, West Wyalong Returned Services League, South West Slopes Credit Union, Commonwealth Bank, The Scott, Nicholson, Wungluck, Nowlan and Kennedy families.
Thank you to the West Wyalong Services & Citizens club for the use of the auditorium for rehearsals and performances.
Congratulations to our 2022 School Captains Cate Curry and Hugo Harper, shown here with our outgoing 2021 School Captains, Amelia Alchin (far left) and Charlie Murdoch (far right).
