Dear Parents,
This week St Mary’s parents and teachers will be engaging in our "Get to Know Your Child" interviews. The purpose for the meetings is to allow parents to communicate specific details about their children to their respective teachers. Family routines, past successful experiences and any other important information is shared with the teachers to allow them to develop a full picture of their students and allow them to plan appropriate learning activities. The interviews will take place over the phone to the mobile number of the parent who booked. Please be aware teachers will be calling from an ‘unknown number’. At the end of term 2 St Mary’s will have another round of interviews allowing teachers to give feedback on student progress.
St Mary’s has been given an updated list of Covid-19 restrictions. The main change refers to whole school assemblies and gatherings. We are now permitted to hold school assemblies with the entire school for more than 10 minutes, while outside and grouped in cohorts. Unfortunately we cannot have parent’s onsite, so we will continue to stream the assembly via Teams. Our first run last Friday appeared to work well, with not only parents joining the live stream, but also some students who were away from the school. I will continue to update our community over the coming weeks as restrictions change.
The beginning for 2022 has seen a large number of our 5 and 6 students participate and make Canberra and Goulburn Archdiocesan teams. St Mary’s is also sending a competitive contingent of swimmers to the Western Region carnival this Thursday. Congratulations to all those students for your efforts so far and best of luck to those who have sporting events coming up in the future.
Mr Nielsen
Introducing 1 Joy
“If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. ‘This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.’”
JOHN 15:10–12
Let us pray
Lord Jesus, you are our salvation and our joy. We thank you for the new life and power that we have through your death and resurrection because we know that true joy can only come by your spirit working in us.
Amen

Canberra Goulburn AFL Trials
Congratulations to Bodhi Cattle, Max Cuthbertson, Jimmy Dean, Toby Nielsen and Nate Sams who attended the AFL trials in Wollongong on Tuesday the 15th of February.
The boys all played very well and had a great day playing their favourite game. Four qualified for the Canberra Goulburn team and one selected as a reserve. A tremendous effort by the St Mary's group.
St Mary's would like to say get well soon to Mrs Manchur. Lauren had a fall on Friday and has broken her knee. All is well but we will have to wait until she has recovered from surgery and can walk on crutches before we see her back in our classrooms.

- Medical Form (orange) - All Years - Please complete and return the form to the school office. A new form is required for each student every year. If you indicate your child has asthma, even if seasonal, an action plan from your doctor is required to be held at the school office along with a puffer and spacer labelled with your child's name.
- Walking Permission Note - All Years - Please complete the online form to give permission for your child - link is here.
Local Permission (Walking) Note
At times during the school year your child/ren will participate in off premises cultural and sporting learning activities within walking distance of the school.
For example Book Week at the Bland Shire Library, performances at the S&C Club, training at the stadium or Perseverance Oval.
As part of St Mary's "duty of care" responsibility, risk assessment documents must be submitted to Catholic Education Office Canberra Goulburn for these events. As most of these excursions are low key, for a short duration and do not require monetary payment, parents are notified of the actual date, time and event via the newsletter.
This permission note covers your child/ren attending these events for the 2022 school year.
If at any time you do not wish your child to attend an event off premises, after specific notification, please contact the school.
Please click on this link Local Excursions (Walking) - Permission Note 2022 to complete the note.
Fee statements for Term 1 have been posted.
Thank you to those families who have payment plans in place.
Please call the school office if you would like to change a payment plan setup by the school.
The school has the ability to provide school fee support for families in genuine need. School fee payment records are strictly confidential and access is restricted to office staff and the school principal. Please contact Mr Nielsen if you wish to discuss this matter or any other issue.
