Having gratitude means that you are thankful for the good things in your life. It is an attitude that seeks the good in every situation and tries to see a silver lining around every cloud. Instead of going straight to negativity and panic, a thankful person focuses on the positives and manages to maintain a healthy perspective, rather than thinking the world is out to get them.
So many stressful things happen in everyday life, whether conflicts with family members, financial concerns, or health problems. But thinking about everything you must be grateful for - from friends to family in your life to the clothes on your back to the food on your table can help put those challenges in perspective.
If we look to the bible, we see that it centres around gratitude or giving thanks continually. The faithful are called to give thanks to God for everything, and not only to be thankful but to rejoice. " Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! " Psalm 95:2.
Jesus began and ended his prayers with words of thanks and praise to his father and in the Lord's Prayer he taught his followers to do the same Matthe 6:9-13. He even thanked God for the opportunity to sacrifice his life for the world.
Teaching children an attitude of gratitude requires helping them to look at their situations from a point of appreciation rather than from a deficit. We can provide them with opportunities to express thanks daily through:
- Saying please and thank you
- Helping someone less fortunate
- Volunteering
- Sending out thank you cards
- Looking for awe inspiring moments in your day
- Share your gratitude daily as a family
- Compliment others
- Keep a gratitude journal

With the change in the weather and uniform we usually find ourselves with a large number of unmarked polar fleece jumpers.
PLEASE label your child’s clothing so that we can save parents money by returning jumpers that are discarded on the playground and in classrooms.
Jumpers that are named often end up in the wrong backpack, so we also ask that you check the name on your child’s jumper & return to the rightful owner if necessary.

Year 3 to Year 6 - Wagga Theatre Excursion
Roald Dahl’s gruesome twosome The Twits arrive on stage to delight and disgust, in equal measure. Proudly brought to you by multi-award winning shake & stir theatre co.
Mr and Mrs Twit are the nastiest couple you could ever hope (not) to meet. Both are on a quest to be meaner than the other – but, is there someone out there who can out-twit the Twits? Full of trickery and wickedly-funny pranks, Dahl’s adored classic encourages us to treat others with love and care and proves that if you have good thoughts, they will shine out of your face like sunbeams.
Packed with Dahlicious mischief, hilarious mayhem and big belly laughs, The Twits is unmissable theatre for all ages.
The bus will leave the front of the school at 7.30am sharp and return to St Mary's in time for the school bus.
Students should wear sport uniform and bring all food required for the day, a packed recess, fruit, lunch, water bottle and a hat.
This cost of the theatre entry will be $20 per child, consent and payment via Compass.
The cost of transport is covered by St Mary's School.
Parents of Year 3 to 6 students please logon to Compass and provide consent and payment.
St Mary's has organised a visit from The Super Science Circus Show on the 25th of May at 1:50pm in the school hall.
The show is an incredibly inventive, interactive and educational show that uses the fun of circus, comedy and magic to inspire scientific inquiry into the natural, physical and material world.
Our students will join the Ring Mistress and her cast of characters to question the HOW and the WHY of circus.
The cost of the show is $6 per student so please logon to COMPASS to give consent and payment.
The Premier's Back to School NSW Vouchers program provides 3 x $50 vouchers, totalling $150 for each eligible student.
St Mary's can now accept these vouchers and they can be used to purchase the school skirt, school ties and school bags.
If you spend more than the voucher value you will have to pay the difference by EFT, if you spend less that the voucher value the leftover amount will be forfeited.
Please come to the school office if you wish to use your vouchers which expire on 30 June 2023.
