A Message from our Assistant Principal
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to Week 5. Last week we opened our new playground and this week we’ve introduced new desks into all classrooms throughout the school. These new desks will not only provide students with a new, clean learning environment but also add to our Catalyst journey that St Mary’s has embarked upon. The direct instruction approach that our teachers have implemented in their classes has already begun to yield fabulous results across the school with all classes achieving excellent results in their Progressive Achievement Tests (PAT). I will share some of these fantastic results with you next week.
In the past week I have received numerous calls regarding the timing of events, what to wear amongst other questions. To help alleviate stress and confusion from you, our staff spent last week discussing and receiving training on how to use ‘events’ in Compass. All events for legal reasons are found on Compass. Below is how to find out about events that apply to your child. Please make sure you’ve got Compass downloaded on your phone and follow these easy steps.
Have a great week everybody and please remember my door is always open!!
Regards
Damian Collins
Assistant Principal

Sacrifice
In partnership with families, we are dedicated to educating children who are:
Thinking of others - The virtue of SACRIFICE is giving up something because we value something else as more important. It involves thinking about the feelings of others above our own and choosing an option that might not be as fun or enjoyable to make life better for another person, or ourselves in the future. Jesus is the ultimate model of sacrifice because he freely chose to give up his life on the Cross for the sins of every human.
A Prayer for the virtue of Sacrifice
Dear Jesus,
You’re the definition of love. Your sacrifice on the cross is the gold standard for sacrificially loving others. Living a life of service and speaking the truth is what I wish for. When I see a believer who has a need, fill me with a love that I will step up and meet that need. In every relationship may the example of Jesus on the cross compel me to love sacrificially. I long to be an example of Your love. I ask this in Your name, because You are the giver of love.
I ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
All Saints Day
We held our whole school mass on Wednesday in the church.
The students were very reverent and it was a lovely celebration inspiring us to be more saint-like.

Possum Magic
K-2 travelled to Wagga last Thirsday to see Possum Magic. All students thoroughly enjoyed the day and were fabulous ambassadors of our school.
School Intensive Swimming Program 2023
Planning is underway for St Mary’s Intensive Swimming Program. All students are encouraged to participate in this program. Swimming is very much a part of the Australian lifestyle and a high level of swimming ability and knowledge and skill in water safety is not only highly desirable but could be life saving.
St Mary's would like thank the hardworking Community Council for their efforts and our school community, who have supported fundraisers over the past year. Our amazing Community Council have offered to cover all of our students swimming lesson costs. Non Season Pass students will incur a cost of $10 to cover pool entry for the week. A Compass event has been sent out for parents to indicate their child/ren's swimming level and if they are Season Pass holders or not. Please complete this ASAP. Another Compass event will be sent out to the non Season Pass holders for pool entry payment in Week 6. If you are unsure of any of the above, please don't hesitate to call the school office on (02)6972 3003.
Please note the changes to the swimming levels
The program will run over five days, from Monday 20th of November to Friday 24th of November. The program will meet the needs of the K – 6 PDHPE Syllabus and is under the control of L&R Group from the Holland Park Swim Centre and their qualified instructors. Class teachers will attend to supervise. The primary aim is to develop each child’s swimming ability. The program will offer the following skill levels:
The students will be placed in groups depending on their level of ability as advised by parents. Students will be assessed on the first day to make sure they are in the correct group.
Students not attending the program will be supervised at school and set appropriate literacy learning activities.
Kinder Orientation Day 3
St Mary’s held its final Orientation Day for our 2024 Kindergarten class. The students loved their morning with Mrs Nielsen. The Kindergarten class for 2024 joined us at assembly and were presented with their own embroidered St Mary’s hat!! We can’t wait to see them next year!!
