Breathe into me, Holy Spirit,
that my thoughts may all be holy.
Move in me, Holy Spirit,
that my work, too, may be holy.
Attract my heart, Holy Spirit,
that I may love only what is holy.
Strengthen me, Holy Spirit,
that I may defend all that is holy.
Protect me, Holy Spirit,
that I may always be holy

ST MARY’S NEW FACEBOOK PAGE
Our school now has a new Facebook page that is public. The purpose of this page is to inform the wider community of the fantastic things that happen at our school.
We are still maintaining the P&F Facebook which is wonderful for parents to share messages and information.
We invite everybody to like and share the new page which is called St Mary’s War Memorial School with the following cover picture.
COMMUNICATION UPDATE
Our new website is online and we encourage parents to familiarize themselves with it.
However it is still under construction and menus and information will continue to change over the next couple of weeks.
Parents will be able to send in absence notes, see newsletters as well as receive communications from the school regarding assemblies and other events.
In the future there will be an ability to make appointments for parent/teacher interviews. It will also give the school the ability to track the delivery of information.
Over the rest of this term we ask parents and carers to migrate to the new systems and we will start to send newsletters via the website and app. At the start of Term 3 all should be using the new website and app.
Understanding an eating disorders can be difficult for families. There are many myths around what causes an eating disorder, but it is actually diagnosed as a mental illness. Although the focus is on food, weight and shape, there is often an underlying issue being masked by the eating disorder. It is the biggest killer of any psychiatric illness for young people. It affects both males and females of any age or background.
An eating disorder is a serious and potentially life-threatening mental health illness. It can have significant physical and emotional effects. The beginning of adolescence and late teens are peak periods for kids to experience their first symptoms. Young people with eating disorders can have reductions in cognitive function, emotional changes and may even stop participating in their normal daily activities.
In this edition of SchoolTV, parents will learn what warning signs to look for and what can be done in the prevention of an eating disorder. We hope you take time to reflect on the information offered in this month’s edition and we always welcome your feedback.
If you have any concerns about your child, please contact the school for advice and referral to the school counsellor if necessary.
