On Wednesday evening a group of Year 3 students and their parents met in the Parish Centre with Father Dominic, Miss Jackson and Mrs Cuthbertson to begin their preparation for First Holy Communion.
First Holy Communion is an initiation sacrament that allows the students to fully participate in the Mass. The sacrament is another step in being close to Jesus and part of God's family.
We congratulate the students for starting this journey and pray for them during this time of preparation.
A prayer to St Mary MacKillop
Mary, your dream in life was to live you love for God in a real way.
Help us to bring God’s love alive in our daily lives.
Amen

We have two confirmed cases of Influenza B in the school.
Signs of Influenza B can be coughing, high temperatures, fatigue, abdominal pain.
There are a lot of children away sick at the moment and if you are worried see your doctor as if not treated early Influenza B can lead to other complications.
Please remember our school currently has a student enrolled who has a compromised immune system and is more vulnerable to disease than other students. Therefore, it is important that you do not send your children to school if they are unwell.
- CPS Basketball - Years 3 to 6 - If you have nominated your child, payment of $60 per child is due before Friday 16th August to the school office.

Caitlin Parker, Hamish Braunberger, Harper McDonell and Bobby Bryant
who celebrate their birthdays next week.
We hope you enjoy your special day.
We have had a few reported cases of head lice in the school. Could all parents please check their children’s hair and treat accordingly. It is really important to check your child's hair regularly as lice spread quickly. Children with shoulder length hair should always tie their hair back. |

Year 5 and 6 Mock Council Meeting
Local Government Week
Thanks to Craig Sutton and Rebecca O’Donell and Mayor Monahan for visiting St Mary’s 5/6 classes and hosting a Mock Council Meeting on Tuesday. Riley Bell was elected St Mary’s Mayor, Jogele-An was our General Manager and everyone else acted as councillors. The students were given the opportunity to participate in a mock debate and see how council works to resolve issues and proposals. It was lots of fun and very educational for all. Councillors Daniher and Mangelsdorf were close to being ejected for rowdy behaviour by Mayor Bell!
