Dear Parents and Carers,
I would like to welcome all our St Mary’s community back for what is shaping up to be an action packed Term 4. We have all our usual Term 4 activities planned to go ahead along with some additional events including the Colour Explosion Run, the Year 5/6 Canberra excursion and the Year K/1/2 Wagga excursion. I am particularly excited about the return of our end of year production to its full whole school format.
It is with great joy that I announce Mr Damian Collins has secured the permanent Assistant Principal position at St Mary’s. Damian has had a wonderful impact on St Mary’s since his arrival, driving initiatives such as the Colour Explosion Run and the St Mary’s Uniform award. I would like to officially welcome Damian to our team in an ongoing capacity and look forward to working with him in years to come.
The current Covid-19 restrictions will be lifted on 14 October 2022. Exact details have not been provided from Catholic Education, Canberra & Goulburn, however an update is expected in the coming days. Further information on Covid-19 will be provided in next week’s newsletter.
Parents picking up students from school are reminded to come onto the school grounds to collect children. This is to ensure our students are supervised when entering the Church car park and the Church Street pick up area. The teacher on afternoon duty will keep students with them until a parent or guardian is on school grounds to safely walk children back to their car.
Regards,
Phil Nielsen
“God’s first call is to life, through which He makes us persons; it is an individual call because God does not make things in sets. Then God calls us to faith and to become part of His family as children of God.” Pope Francis
Yesterday St Mary’s staff travelled to Tullibigeal to join with Lake Cargelligo and Grenfell schools for our Spirituality Day. Our focus for the day was Flourishing, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” John 10:10 where we analysed, discussed, and reflected on God’s plan for us to flourish. With such a busy term ahead, it was highly beneficial to take this time out to focus on the central reason of why we are here, that being LOVE. Love of God, self, others, and creation.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
