Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome to Week 9. Only two weeks to go. With the students finishing up on Thursday afternoon next week and the staff engaging in professional development on the Friday, we have decided to hold our normal Friday assembly on Thursday the 26th at 12pm.
Last week the St Mary’s leadership team met with members of the Teaching and Learning team at Catholic Education in Canberra. The focus of this meeting was to anaylse student’s Mathematics results and ensure the school is performing well and heading in the right direction. While all classes were on the expected trajectory, the Year 5 and 6 cohort were the best performers showing huge growth. I’d like to share this data with you.
The first graph shows the huge growth our Year 5 cohort achieved from November 2023 to May 2024. Many of our Year 5 students are working well above Year 6 level.
The second graph shows the huge growth our Year 6 cohort achieved from November 2023 to May 2024. Many of our Year 6 students are working well above Year 7 level. Well done to all students and teachers for these fantastic results. This growth is a testament to the hard work of our students and teachers!! Well done!!
Last week we had to postpone the working bee planned by our Community Council. It will now be held on Sunday the 22nd at 10:30am, following Mass. If you can help out please join us!!
The ‘Tell them from me’ survey closed earlier this month. Whilst there was only a few respondents, on the whole it was very positive. Rather than share the entire results with you I’d like to show you a snippet of the overall results of the ‘Partners in Learning’ Parent Survey.
Remember my door is always open.

This week in BCR (Building Community and Resilience) the students continue exploring values as they prepare for Socktober Day on Friday 1st November. This week's value is Wellbeing. Key points discussed during the session included:
Count the number of meals you have in a day. Compare this number to a majority world country. How would a lack of frequent meals and nutritious foods affect your life?
What are some positive ways that you can manage the emotions from the Inside Out movie trailer? Who would you ask for help to manage these emotions?
“The key to having a healthy life is having a healthy mind.” Richard Davidson
Liturgy Week 10
Next week, we will come together as a school community to celebrate the Season of Creation, a time when Christians around the world are invited to prayer and action to protect Earth, our common home. This will be on Thursday the 26th at approximately 12:30 at the conclusion of assembly. All are invited to attend.
St Mary’s has signed up for Socktober and in their BCR sessions students will be learning about key Catholic Social Teaching principles and practising their soccer skills ready for our big Socktober Event on Friday 1st November 2024 - more information to come. The installation of the new soccer goal posts is very timely!
Evie-Lorraine McKinnon, Ricky Smith & Edie Dean
who celebrate their birthdays during this week.
We hope you enjoy your special day.

Parkes Touch Football Gala Day
Congratulations to our 5/6 students who travelled to Parkes last week for the NSW Touch Gala Day. The students did extremely well with the boys winning 4 out of their 6 games, including a draw, and the girls winning 4 out of their 5 games. Many thanks to Mrs Taylor and Mrs Baker for giving up their time to accompany and support the teams.
Todd Woodbridge Cup
Well done to our Year 3/4 students who competed in the Todd Woodbridge Cup at the West Wyalong Tennis Centre on Thursday. Unfortunately, our teams didn’t progress any further, however, they are congratulated on their fabulous team effort and sportsmanship.
