Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome to Week 2. We definitely hit the ground running for Term 3 with two excursions on the second day back. I was lucky enough to attend the annual Archdiocesan NAIDOC week Mass held in Cootamundra. I joined Miss Turner and our leadership class for the Mass. I was extremely impressed with the maturity and respect shown by our Year 6 leaders. We are lucky to have such fine leaders at St Mary’s.
Our second excursion was our K-2 students who travelled to Wagga to the Civic Theatre to attend the ‘Imagine Live’ performance. At St Mary’s we aim to provide our students with amazing opportunities. Students and teachers reported how much fun it was and that it was a great opportunity to see a live show. Many thanks to all those who helped in organising both experiences and thank you to the students for their exemplary behaviour.
Tomorrow at 12pm, Kindergarten and Year 6 will celebrate Mass with Father Hilary. With the feast of St Joachim and St Anne on the weekend, who are the Patron Saints of grandparents, the theme of the celebration will be grandparents. So, we’d love to see as many grandparents at the Mass as possible!!
Congratulations to Charlotte Pursehouse in Year 4 who was successful in the Year 4 ‘Speak Off’ with Lake Cargelligo. Charlotte will now compete in the Archdiocesan public speaking finals in Gundagai.
This afternoon at 4pm in the school hall, St Mary’s is hosting an Emotional Regulation & Anxiety forum. The event will be led by local expert in this area Esther Petrie and our very own school counsellor Natalie Cowled. They will provide strategies for you and your children at morning drop offs, transitions, changes in routines and will discuss overall emotional regulation and support. This opportunity is not to be missed!!!
Remember my door is always open.

This week at St Mary’s our focus value will be Humility. Humility means that we have a realistic view of ourselves by understanding both our strengths and weaknesses. While it’s good to be aware of our talents and achievements, we should never boast about them because we recognise everything comes from God, like our health, our possessions and even our friends.
A Prayer for Humility

KINDER DON'T FORGET
Kinder Kind will be celebrating 100 Days of School this Thursday 31st of July. What a huge achievement!
Mrs Turner has a fun filled day organised for the Kinder students.
AFL Singlets
This year we were lucky enough to be able to purchase some new AFL singlets for the students. Thanks to Ted, Marcus and Billy for showing them off for us!
Canberra Goulburn Archdiocese Trials
If your Year 5/6 child has the ability to compete at a representative level in the following sports - Basketball, Cricket, Netball, Football (Soccer), Softball, Touch Football and Rugby Union - you are able to nominate them for the Archdiocesan trials.
Please note that the Archdicocesan representative sport trials are highly competitve and there is an expectation that children nominating for these trials have extensive experience in the sport and currently compete at a high level.
If you would like to nominate your child to trial for a sport please go to https://csnsw.sport
Year 5/6 Touch Gala Day
Our Year 5 and 6 students will attend the NSW Touch Football Primary School Gala Day in Parkes next Wednesday the 6th August.
3 mixed teams have been entered. The games will run as a gala day format and will consist of 15 minute games with 6 players on the field. A Compass event has been sent out to the Year 5/6 parents. Please action this as soon as possible. Team lists will be available on the event once they have been finalised.
A bus will be provided and this will cost $15 per student. This will cover half the bus cost and the school will pay the remainder. At this current time the bus will be departing at 7:15. Students will be required to be at school no later than 7:10. This will be confirmed closer to the event once a draw has been confirmed. Return time will be confirmed.
Students will be provided with a playing singlet the day before. Please pack a spare shirt so the singlets can be handed in at the conclusion of the day. Students must also bring a hat, water bottle and a packed lunchbox. There has been no indication as yet for a canteen, if more information regarding this is received it will be passed on.
Students may wear football boots for the games if they wish.
